I am running into this same exact problem as listed in the url above.
I had this happen in Leopard and I think I solved it by changing the size of the cursor using the System Preferences --> UniversalAccess -- > Mouse
I tried enlarging the cursor, but the problem is that when the mouse is over a BBEdit page the ibeam turns a very pale color, almost impossible to see, and when you move the cursor over black text, the ibeam portion over the text turns clear,
Anyway it is really hard to work with a clear cursor.
All other applications display the cursor correctly.
I am running a brand new pristine 'Clean Install of Snow Leopard', in fact I've been installing and configuring applications, apache, php, mysql, etc. for the last couple of days, and the vanishing cursor just started a little while ago.
Any ideas ?
