Feature Request: Detecting differences within lines
I need a utility which will compare and detect differences in text within lines, preferably reporting directly to AppleScript or to a text file. BBEdit 9 does a great job of showing me this information visually in two ways:
A) If I click on a line in the Differences window, it will highlight which words/phrases are different, leaving the unchanged text non- highlighted.
B) If I expand a line in the Differences window, it will show references to the characters by document index. Example: characters 6:15; characters 6:11 characters 22:25; character 18:22
Unfortunately, I see no way to detect this info via AppleScript. The color formatting in A above is not accessible. And when I use the Export command for B (Differences window) it only exports the summary (uncollapsed) data.
If I could just get all the information shown in the fully expanded differences window it would be greatly helpful.
Thanks,
Ray
