Hello all!


I am trying to count the tabs of each line like follows and print out
the following:

Original:
First Name <tab> Last Name <tab> Display Name <tab> Nickname etc

Modification:
1. First Name <tab> 2. Last Name <tab> 3. Display Name <tab> 3. Nickname etc

I made the following try, which is not working:


#!/usr/bin/perl

use warnings;
use strict;

my $count = 1;

while (<>)
{
foreach (/[^\t]+?\t/) {
s/[^\t]+?\t/$count. $&/;
$count++;
}
$count = 1;
print;

}


Could somebody help me with this?
