The BBEdit help (in the Expert Prefs section) has this to say:
When using the old modal Find dialog, the "Start at Top" setting is reset after a successful single-file search. To have "Start at Top" remain turned on if it was on when you dismissed the dialog:
Note that this setting applies only to the old modal Find dialog, not to the new Find window (which has no "Start at Top" setting).
