Setting Up Different Editors for Non-Text Documents
I'm evaluating BBEdit as a replacement for TextMate + Transmit, which I've been using for a couple of years now. I was a long-time user of BBEdit but the lack of support for projects caused me to abandon it some time ago. Now with BBEdit 9, I can give it a shot again.
So far, the only thing I've found that I like better about using Transmit instead of BBEdit's built-in FTP capability is the fact that I can tell Transmit which editor to use for different file types. This allows me, e.g., to double-click an image file and have it open GraphicConverter instead of Transmit. That's pretty handy.
Now I know I could continue to use Transmit and just assign BBEdit as the text editor -- and I may yet end up doing that -- but I figured I was probably overlooking something somewhere that would enable me to use BBEdit's FTP capability and still be able to assign another external editor. A search of the help didn't reveal anything so I figured I'd try here.
