Using Safari 4.0.3 or Firefox 2.0.0.16 I am getting the same results. To simplify...
If I create a new text document with BBedit and type the following:
<b>test this sentance as bold</b>
I can Preview the text in either browser and it appears fine, fine defined as the sentence displays properly in bold. However, when I save the file as anything, and open it in Safari or Firefox, I see the HTML codes <b>and </b> with the sentence text instead of a bolded sentence without HTML codes showing.
If I create from new an HTML document with the same sentence with HTML code,
<b>test this sentance as bold</b>
and then preview the file in the browsers, again it looks fine. When I save it as Styled HTML or anything else that the browser will open, I get to see the HTML codes again and not the sentence simply in bold. I do get the added !DOCTYPE stuff of course, and see that HTML code too.
What do I save a simple file as to see it as the coding intended instead of as code? Stupid question, I understand. I do appreciate the help. This is for my elementary son's intro class and while I thought I could help him, I can not. I am not smarter than a fifth grader :-) I have looked and looked and am now lost.
Thanks in advance for the help.
