BBEdit doesn't seem to allow me to directly enter ASCII control characters into a file. For editing really old files, is there a way for BBEdit to allow this? For instance, suppose I need to type the ASCII "US" (unit separator) into a file. In "vi", I would simply type control-_ and ASCII 0x1F would be entered.
In addition to typing control characters, I would like it if BBEdit would display them. For me, using either the ^_ convention or, as I've seen in other editors, display the name of the control character.
Currently, when I enable the show invisibles, BBEdit simply displays these characters using the inverted question mark.
